Because while Clinton did sign the bill, he signed it because it passed with a supermajority in both GOP-held houses, meaning it could not be vetoed. Some Democrats in the House and Senate voted for the bills to be sure, but claiming that this was something Clinton had any control over is bullshit of the highest order. The government simply doesn’t work that way.

I feel like this response is working from the assumption that Dr Jabr is arguing that Palestinians (or anyone else) who are in the midst of an ongoing traumatic situation isn’t “authentically” traumatised by the stress of what they’re going through. That is not at all what she’s arguing. Instead, she’s arguing that post-traumatic stress disorder treats that retraumatisation as a constant and measures the individual’s response to it as pathological. She’s explicitly repoliticising our response to what is otherwise interpreted as an individual aberration.
anyway animal rights activism will be inherently disingenuous and indeed actively harmful unless y’all recognize that 1) not every country has industrialized the consumption of meat to the extent that the west has 2) you absolutely need to prioritize human beings over animals given that basic humanity isn’t even afforded to a large fucking portion of the human population 3) your experiences are not universal and humans have been living off the land sustainably for literal millenia 4) capitalism is your enemy not poor people & people of color 5) stop fucking making slavery/holocaust anaologies. those are actual human beings. thanks
A month and a half ago she passed away after battling cancer 3 times, we realized too late the cancer was back and we had to see her slowly fade from our arms during the course of her last 3 months after the cancer had spread to her spinal chord, lungs and intestines.
These last 5 months have been the hardest in my life.
I’m about to lose my job because I keep needing days off to deal with the mental and psicologic toll my mom’s death took on me, to make things worse my aunt and I took on a huge debt to make my mom’s last days as comfortable as possible and to take care of all funerary costs.
I’m half month behind on my rent and I have to pay the new month in 10 days, I’ve been mostly staying with my gfs family (who have been incredibly supportive) to eat and get wi fi, along with them taking care of me after a suicide attempt a week ago, which might have been triggered by me not being able to afford medication and therapy now that the government funded clinic I went to has been shut down.
Please help me out, I want to be better and afford my rent, I want to go on with my life and make the best of it since that’s what my mom wished and I have an incredibly loving and supportive girlfriend along with her whole family and 3 beautiful cats, but we need your help, any spare dollar makes a huge difference to avoid losing my apartment and affording medicines and therapy.

Drake is veryyyy, VERY problematic. That his “good guy” persona is all bullshit. There have also been numerous women that have accused him of not using protection and forcing them to have abortions when they got pregnant.

All charges against her were dropped (not that there should have been any in the first place). She then filed suit against the city, and the trial date for that case is set for Oct 7, 2019. When this stuff happens, it really never ends for the victim of police brutality….they have to fight forever to get justice, if they ever do get it, and face all the dangers that come with that fight - being slandered in the press, being treated like a “criminal”, having your school or work records and anything about your character be dragged through the mud. And that’s with the police chief apologizing and disavowing the acts of the officer.
